MSTA Online - About MBA

About Michael Bews Associates (MBA)

MBA have been providing business continuity (BC) guidance and planning assistance for 18 years. We have formulated and implemented hundreds of plans in that time. MBA is on the judging panel for the Continuity Insurance and Risk Business Continuity Awards.

MSTA development commenced in 1989, in London, England following a request from an investment fund manager for a "business recovery plan" to augment existing disaster recovery procedures.

Our Unique Approach to Business Continuity Planning

MSTA methodology focuses on the recovery of business processes. By concentrating on the solution and working backwards, MSTA endeavours to minimise the requirement for immediate, post incident recovery resources. Additional resources are introduced in accordance with a pre-planned recovery schedule.

Software Used in the Implementation of BC Plans

MSTA version 7.35 is the current version of our software. It was used most recently, in conjunction with MSTA v7.1, to conduct an annual test for a Luxembourg-based bank and to prepare bc plans for two corporate clients based in Scarborough and Geneva.

MSTA Basic is a suite of forms, analysis tools and report documents that is based on MSTA version 5.0. These may be used, together with MSTA guidance notes, by a BC co-ordinator or responsible line manager, to assist in the preparation of a basic business continuity plan.

MSTA Basic is available on this website free of charge to end users who have first read and accepted the terms and conditions of use. The file also contains demonstrations of MSTA v7.35 and MSTA v7.1.

MSTA Guidelines for Business Continuity Planning are also freely available for use by end users who have first read and accepted the terms and conditions of use.

New software products from MBA

MSTA versions up to 7.35 have been used by MBA to assist in BC plan development on behalf of client organisations. These include investment banks in London, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Paris and Luxembourg, together with several commercial banks and other enterprises in Geneva and the United Kingdom.

Based upon MBA's hands-on experience of BC plan development, maintenance, testing and staff training, the MSTA business process analysis and BC planning tools are now being built in an OLE-enabled development environment. This new version of the MSTA software will soon be available for purchase, to assist with in-house business contingency plan development, implementation and maintenance.

Three versions will be available:

MSTA Lite: An introductory product, designed for use by smaller companies, based on version 7.1.

MSTA Professional: A direct replacement for version 7.35, but with enhanced functionality.

MSTA Enterprise: Similar to the Professional but with an enterprise-class relational database, and the potential for interaction with server-resident MSTA modules from anywhere in the world via the internet.
