7.6 Pre-implementation Test Cycle

Pre-implementation testing differs slightly from periodic testing. The pre-implementation tests should begin with intermediate testing of small sections of the recovery resources.

7.6.1 Intermediate tests

All tests should be conducted as if they were being audited, using a pre-compiled test script and by timing the commencement and successful conclusion of each item in the test script. Problems should be documented on the test script, together with the solution.

Where possible, problems should be solved during the intermediate tests. The intermediate test should pause while the solution is implemented. All intermediate tests should, therefore, be successful.

7.6.2 Audited pre-implementation tests

If intermediate testing has been correctly managed, the 'official', audited pre-implementation test should be successful. It is permissible to carry out a limited amount of problem solving during an audited test, to ensure success. No test should be thought of as an examination (see MSTA Rule 3).
